Dungeon loading "errors"

Well, when i enter the dungeon, i get the cleaning old dungeon data message and then the loading dungeon message... When it reaches exactly 72%, it starts generating a subscript out of range module iw:getobjects or something like that... I have managed to isolate the problem and i know wich file is giving me this problem, so i would like the help of the kind folks of this board. The file that generates this kind of bug is the demiseobjectsi.ded My file is around 4Mb and i would like to know what are your file sizes and especially the size of this file in a fresh install. If someone has a fresh install of this file, please post its size and save a copy of it somewhere because i will perhaps ask you to send to me.
(just not yet )
BTW, the demiseobjectsisp.ded will regenerate (i.e. demise will create a new file if you delete this) with a size of around 760kb... If my guess is correct, this file contains the "leftovers" data (i.e. what chests werenīt opened and some other things. So for the folk that is bothered with areas that donīt repop PERHAPS deleting this file will solve it. As usual BACKUP and remember that this is preliminary information. Also in the future i will make some test to see if i can increase the loading speed of demise... I have a few guesses to try out first.

Humm... No replies...

Ok folks time to shape up

I want to know: - what is the size of your demiseobjectsi.ded file ? - what is the size of the demiseobjectsi.ded on a fresh install (assuming someone has a fresh install...)? Thanks for your time!

Well mine is 4183k right now. However, I don't seem to have the problem with it that you have had.

Thanks Varzil! I am thinking that this file has a fixed size and somehow (i.e. defrag and stuff like that) i might have missed a bit or made it get a bit longer...
If this file is a fixed size, then demise might allocate a fixed size in the win386.swp when it copies it there and any diference in the size will generate errors. I will check to see the size of my file up to the last bit and compare with yours...
Thanks!

Okay, I Have a fresh install as well as my main install (I kept a clean copy of 3.1 while working around reg problems). So file size after install and 3.1 patch: 4 283 218. Size after two days of playing (with character.DED shifted over from demo with about 2 weeks play) : 4 283 218.

So I expect that if yours is a different size, then something must be buggered. Note, I didn't install 353, because it caused me more problems than it was worth. Hope this helps.

Humm.. I checked my file size and it is the same that garth and cellarius reported... I can only guess that mine is corrupted in some way

Could someone send me a zipped (around 800kb) version of it? BTW i donīt think that the 353 patch messed with this file but if it did i might need a patched one... Send it to <edited by Morek>

I donīt know if this will work but a want to try... BTW does anyone knows how to open the data2.cab that comes in the demise cd? I think i could get a copy there, without installing, but it says there is some header information missing for it to be an "official" cab...

Well, problem solved! A friend of mine send me his file and just as expected, it solved my problems

Then just for record: If you are getting subscript out of range in iwgetobjects module or something like that, you just need to replace the demiseobjectsi.ded
Thanks to all folks!
