Play Demise without CD in drive? (yes, I bought the game)

Hi Folks, I was just wondering if it was possible to play Demise without the CD in the drive. I have heard of downloadable programs that will make programs think that the CD is in the drive. I own the full version of Demise, so I am not asking so that I can pirate the software. If you would prefer to email me directly instead of replying to the post for this reason, please feel free (mcleanm@ucsub.colorado.edu). The reason that I ask is that the new laptop I am getting does not have a CD-ROM drive in it. I can load stuff by networking with my desktop, but I can't do that all the time. I would really like to be able to play Demise during down time in my field work this summer. So, can any of you techno geniuses out there give me a hand? Thanks a lot in advance

The only reason you need to have the CD in the drive is for the music track. If you disable the music, you can run the game without the CD.

I can use another CD if you would like to listen to other tracks. I can't remember the exact filename, but it shows what tracks will play when.

If you install the most recent patch you do not need the cd in the drive to play.

Folks, you all rule. Thanks for the help. One other thing, though. Some games (which I also bought, not bootlegged) do require the CD. Any way to trick the game into thinking that the CD is in the drive? I thought I had heard about programs like that.

http://www.resplendence.com/resolver/index.htm Copy the CD to your HD. Create a share on your HD. Then map a drive letter to that share. Then use Resolver to create a shortcut to start the game with. Make sure to set it for pretend a drive is a CD. A couple instances where this will not work is, games that require you to swap cd's out. Games that call secondary programs that will not run on your system (unless you are running NT4.0, I don't see a major problem with this.

Maybe I am a retard, here, but I have loaded the latest patch (I think) and I still am prompted for the game CD before I am allowed to play the game. I have disabled the music in the preferences. Is there anythings else that I need to do? I appreciate the help

did you install the 353 and .dll patch thats the one that does it plus you have to restart the computer and start the game between patches.
