Since this is a carry-over from linuxz's reply to my post, I'll do my part to carry it a bit further: I said Demise had more depth than Diablo 2: it does. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. Whether it is better than Diablo 2, now that would be an opinion (IMO, it is). I have a level 59 sorceress, 56 barb, and other all other classes in their 20's when it comes to D2 so I know the game pretty well. It's a good game, but it has no depth. Barb = ww, sorceress = cold, amazon = strafe, paladin = hammerdin, necro = minions. Sure, you can do other combos, but that means settling for less. Settling for less isn't depth, nor will settling for less in D2 give you a benefit in any other area. Demise has depth because it has real choices, you take more you pay more, you take less you pay less but get less. Want to cover all angles? You can, but prepared to spend the rest of your life leveling you character. Want a fast leveler? Gotta decide what you are going to do without. Which class do you level first? Run one class high with no penalty but with few skills? Run all classes about equal but have to constantly deal with penalties to all? Go deep for potentially better items but more deaths? Use a human for cheap leveling and flexibility but have to live the early part of his/her life with no resistances and blah stats? People who have played this game for years (in its various incarnations) still debate major aspects of the game. There is no debate on the major aspects of D2 because it's a pretty simple game. At most you can debate some minor detail such as the -exact- number of points to put into warmth...
