All of a sudden I can't run Demise!!! When I start up I get the following error before I get to the mainmenu: Error loading system file LoadTextures! and when I click OK here this next error pops: Ignore Error Overflow 0,,-- modDESModule: DESLoadWave Does anybody know what I can do about this? It just happend all of a sudden. I had played for a while then I quit to read these boards and 15 mins later I tried to restart Demise but couldn't. P.S. I have the latest patch installed if that matters!

I read this.

Seriously, though, try redoing the 353 patch. Chances are some little thing got hosed in the EXE or the DLL.

Have you tried restarting the computer?

I have found restarting a PC can cause all sorts of problems to clear up.

I've tried out both of your hints, unfortunatly none of them worked - thanks for the help anyway

So does anybody else have any ideas?

Well, there is always the drastic method of saving you character file to a safe local and doing a complete re-install with all patches. That would be tough. I hope that somebody else can come up with something.

I must admit it seems like reinstalling is the only option here - I've tried everything I could think of. But besides saving the char files isn't it possible to save the store, bank and map files? That would really take the top of the pain if I have to reinstall. But still, if somebody have any ideas so I don't have to reinstall I would be really happy to hear about it, thanks.

The bank is a part of your character file. It should be possible to save everything of import, including the guild files, store, confinement, etc. Save the entire demise/syste/demise folder, but not any subfolders, and the autobackup folder. Then, after you've reapplied both patches, copy those files over the existing ones. Should let you keep all your old data.

I got that DES error before when I was testing the results of deleting certain files. Been doing any file work that might have caused this? This might be fixable just by doing a restore of your last backup (assuming that isn't too old).

The program stops before I get to the main menu so restoring the manual backup isn't really an option. And no I haven't been doing any file work.

You can restore by hand. First, make a backup copy of your AUTOBACKUP folder. Then take all the .bak files in the autobackup and rename them to .ded and then copy those over the current character files. I've done this before and it works fine, assuming you are comfortable with such file operations.

I think this just became a moot issue.

It isn't a moot issue actually. This does have good info in case this happens to someone else, so they can solve it faster.
