Dogg, I cant really say but my guess is no? I think NT uses dx4?? maybe 3? I really dont know... But I think a higher version is needed for demise?

I have not tried but according to the web page Demise does not support nt.

IIRC- there will be no sound. There can be other issues if you are a network, but this doesn't sound like an issue you will worry about. I have played the demo before gold and the 1st gold demo on NT 4. I had SP5 on both machines. One computer had a 200 mhz processor, 48 mb ram and the other had a 300, 64 mb. I didn't try playing MP because these were work computers. I did try to set the server up, but never actually played MP.

IIRC, the server software should run on NT4.0. I know that you will have all sorts of problems actually playing the game from NT, but since the server portion does not actually use DirectX, it should run fine. I would make sure that you are running service pack 6a though.

I ran my Demise server on NT4 Server for a while. (Demise) Server works fine, but for the game you can only use software render and sound won't work at all. The game gives you an error message 'bout soundinit, but you can still "play" VERY SLOW

The Betas and Demo ran on NT4 but the full game won't unless you do a LOT of special stuff and know how to do it (ie: getting directx7 working under NT4 which only supports directx3). I'm not sure about running just the server part tho. Since it's not doing the graphics and sounds, thus not using directx, it just might work ok.

I think it was JP(?) who had the know how to do this but I agreed after some emails that it just is not worth the risk for anyone who isn't a PC/Windows expert. It's way too easy to screw your system and way too hard to get everything 'right'. It was easier and faster for me to install W98 on a dual boot partition to get the game to run.

For the 50th time: Demise **DOES** run under NT4, but you get no sound and have to use the software renderer which is abysmally slow.
