OK, I bought a new game (got it real cheap from where I work) and installed it and played a bit. Now when I try to run DEMISE I get an error message.... so maybe it will make sense to someone and you can tell me how to fix it. It says that the file 'OLEAUT32.DLL' is out of date and needs to be updated. I don't know what that is or how to update it. Oh, and the game I just got is Lords of Magic, Special Edition.

Kevin, I hope that is a valid email address you have listed I am sending you a version that will run with Demise. It goes in the Windows/System Folder.

Why wouldn't it be valid?? I got the file... thanks... but what was the problem? Wouldn't an installation program check to see if it was a current version before overwriting? Anyway, I'll give it a try tomorrow night and see if it fixes it... tonight I just need some sleep for a change.

Nope, some programs use a crappy installer that does not always check to see if there is already a newer one there. I lost my internet connection one time due to that. And Win9.x does not do it well either. I do remember that Demise needs a certain version to be able to run, I am not certain which one, but I do know that the one I sent you will work. You could also upgrade IE to 5.5 and that will install a version that will work with Demise.

Well, I finally got DEMISE up and running again... thanks to your help of course. It wasn't a simple task though since the file was in use by Windows. I had to reboot in DOS mode and copy the file, then reload Windows.... but it works now. I just hope I can still run LoM too. I have been less than impressed with it though, so if it doesn't, it will get delegated to the shelf. Thanks again for the help.... I was sure glad I didn't have to reinstall anything!

Your welcome Kevin. You should not have any problem with LoM, the capabilities of the new file should support it.
