Does putting 2 nics in screw up the game server but not the Master Server The MS works just fine but I can't connect to the game server till I disconnect the card that goes to my network! Its bad enough I had to get a separate IP for the MS but to hafta have a completely separate computer sucks! Mabe I'll try puttin a nic in a old 486 for the MS.

Hi Dogg - interesting point you have - I have two Nics in my ol' PII .... one connects to the DSL modem and the other to a 5 port network hub. One is set up with the fixed IP for my DSL, the other to the default. I have no problem with either demo or full games running MP while both game servers are running (apart from 48 hours lag!) - but I had to define a range of ports for the servers (I opened 26000 to 26007). What actually happens in your setup?

pps: bet you'd get away with a nic in an old 386 for the MS!

The only problem is it hasta set In a demise folder but I don't know if it hasta be a working install or if it could just be a folder I transplanted there. ps The nic to my modem is wide open (No fire wall)where the one to my router well That ip is compleatly open.

I think it has to be a working install - seem to remember something about running the game once before the server will work ... going to look into that one at the weekend - right now work's getting in the way of fun

The game server doesn't have to be running for the MS to run.

My problem is I dont write stuff down once I get it working - ok , my two versions demo and full, were loaded into separate partitions - other than drive letter, they have identical directory structures. The PC they're on is my 'host' for a small ICS network, so it has two nics - one to the DSL modem, the other to the 5 port hub. The first time I tried this my servers would run but not see the master server, and even with my IP being known, an outside PC with a game couldn't talk to my game servers. I had to copy a *.inf file from MS to 'open' ports from 26000 - I ran the *.inf file once, which wrote some magic formulae into the registry and things were ok afterward. So maybe you have something similar going on or the Master Server has a conflict with a game server port? I don't know enough to help more specifically - sorry if Im rambling

That's another thing when I transferred the demo to my new server It got corrupted and the server won't run and if I reinstall it I'll hafta repatch the full
